Wow. I did it. I made it to the end of my #100Days Project. At first, I really didn't believe that I would do it. But I did. And it was kinda amazing.

To summarize: Everyday for the last 100 Days I took a self, and then digitally drew it. At some point in the day, I also read news and posts about local, state, and national politics and issues I care about. I used the photos from those articles as the color palette for my digital portrait. Then, I named a belief, value, or dream I have and wrote it on my portrait.

It was my antidote to the Drumpf Administration's ambitious plan: to go deeply personal and show how political the personal really is.

Along the way, I discovered a few things too. I found out that I really like a daily practice that is focused / has parameters. It gives me a clarity about myself, which in turn deepens my ethics and values. It also creates a routine, and that provides an opportunity for introspection and quiet.

It was was also a diary. It gives me a structure on which to look back and inquire about who I was on that particular day in relation to what is happening in the world around me.

I also like having an end date. It gives a sense of completion and accomplishment. I also get to move on and try something new.

Which brings me to #100MoreDays.

I want ant to do another project for 100 Days. It feels just long enough. I also don't want to conform to a form. I do want it to feel deeply personal and reveal a part of me like the portraits do.

So I'm going to start this blog. I am going to post something here every single day. Sometimes it might be a doodle. Other times poetry. Even others a photo or video or even a sonic landscape. It will always be something that is posted only here.

I also want to share what I'm reading. Through #100Days, I shared through color the palette of my "news" and "political" world. Now, I want to share the links to what I'm reading, watching, listening to, consuming. I think it's important to reveal that which inspires thoughts, ideas, actions, and contemplations.

I'm also going to continue with the selfies. This time though I'm going to not just pop-artify them. Instead, I'm going to play and change it up. Like the one for today. Or maybe a portrait of my hands instead.

And I'm going to post it all here because I want this journal to be mine and not Instagram or Facebooks or Twitters. Rather, I want control of my content. It feels really important to be in that kind of control, especially now.

So stay tuned and tune in! There's plenty of art coming your way.

On January 20, 2017, I started #100Days to cultivate a daily art practice, to learn more about political issues, and to name values, beliefs, and dreams. It was a focused practice that resulted in neon pop art portraits.

The 100 Days are done. And I have 100 portraits, beliefs, values, and dreams.

Now, I want to keep my daily practice going, but loosen its form. So I created #100MoreDays to peel back the layers and also share new work.

Each day I snap a selfie, share what I'm reading / viewing / consuming, and post some work(s)-in-progress created that day. It's like my diary. And hopefully you can see connections, intersections, inspirations, and divergences.

(Or maybe it's all just nonsense.)
