Hey There Comrades + Neighbors!
Welcome to my new blog. I used to have one about a decade ago. (God. I can't believe it was already that long ago.) But due to the rise social media (mostly Facebook and Instagram) my content shifted towards posting on those platforms.
A year ago, I deleted my Facebook account because I was wary of the mass data collection Facebook was and is doing. It also wasn't really helping my mental health at all. The latest thing to be outraged about was always pressing. And it was tiring trying to constantly engage. So I cut it out and committed to only using Instagram, which is, I know, owned by Facebook.
Still, I felt a need to have a place to post my content, an outlet for my voice and creative expression. So I committed to being active and really using Instagram as a tool of discovery and connection.
It's a year later, and over that year I've also been closely following news about Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Zuckerfuck (my name for him). I even watched all six hours of Zuckerfuck's congressional testimony in October 2019. As a result taking in all of the news, I've come to a conclusion that Facebook (as a platform and company) and the man behind it all lean toward fascism.
I wanna be a bit careful here. I don't know if Zuckerfuck or Facebook are like literal Nazis. What I do know, is that their policies, their beliefs, their way of thinking has an outcome of constant and increasing mass surveillance, highly extractive capitalism through personal data mining, and manufacturing fear-based outrage. To me, surveillance, capitalism, and fear are clear roots of fascism.
With this clarity, I can no longer use Instagram as a platform to share the breadth of my work. Instead, I have to be incredibly strategic with what I share. For me, this means I will only be sharing expressly and explicitly political content and art on Instagram.
This leaves me with a small void though: Where to publish the breadth of my creative work?
Well, that's an easy answer I'm figuring out. It's simply here, on my own artist website.
So come back often! I'll be posting photos, recipes, digital manipulations, events, writings, and links to things that inspire or outrage or tickle me. I'll be posting regularly, too. I need a way to express myself.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for taking an interest in my art. I appreciate comments, so please leave one. I'll promise to respond.
Let's start a dialogue and see where it takes us. Cheers to all the adventures yet to come.
Howdy! I'm Jason Wyman, and I'm an artist living and creating in San Francisco, CA. Click the TITLES to read my blog posts. I'm sharing art, thoughts, inspirations, recipes, and all the things that make my life art. So take a peek and you might discover something weird or beautiful or political or maybe even something a wee bit filthy. After all, I'm hella queer. In fact, you might say I'm queerly complex.
