SOCIAL PROJECTS | Schools, Museums, and Non-Profits
Politically Pop is a new social art project that facilitates inquiry, investigation, and creativity into personal beliefs and collective values using participatory workshops, zine making, and comic strips with communities of all ages, identities, geographies, and abilities. A special emphasis is placed on cultivating creative environments that facilitate a depth of conversation and inquiry including making space for chaos, slowness, reflection, collective culture keeping, and fun.
Formats of Politically Pop workshops include:
One time workshop that creates space to complete the This I believe:______ zine.
Tested Clients: Peer Resources + Friends Audience: Middle school and high school youth, adults, intergenerational Length: Approximately 60-120 minutes Cost for 60 minute workshop: Approximately $250 Customizable one time workshop that explores a core value, belief, or question. Tested Client: San Francisco Youth Justice Comic Con Audience: All ages Length: Varies. Time includes initial planning, zine creation, and workshop facilitation. Cost: Charge approximately $100/hour. Initial 30-minute consultation is free. A series of workshops that bring together two different groups of people that want to work together on a creative or political project. Tested Client: RYSE + CCA Collaboration Audience: High school + college-aged youth and young adults, adults, intergenerational Length: Approximately three 120- to 180-minute workshops) Cost for all three workshops: $3000 A series of workshops that start with This I believe:______ zine making and move towards participants designing and creating their own zines that help others examine specific beliefs or values. Tested Client: Asian Art Museum's Art Speak Internship Program Audience: High school youth, children, adults, intergenerational Length: Multiple engagements over the course of about four months including collaborative design sessions, workshop facilitation, zine making and prototyping, training youth to facilitate zine making, and mentoring youth as they facilitate. Cost for engagement: Charge approximately $100/hour. Initial 30-minute consultation is free. Prices do not include materials and supplies. |
